Garrett MacQuiddy, a sophomore at Cal, placed second in the invitational men's 1,500 meters in a personal-best 3:41.62 at the 47th Stanford Invitational at Cobb Track and Angell Field in Palo Alto, Calif. MacQuiddy was the top collegiate competitor in the field, trailing Japanese Olympian Ryoma Aoki, who prevailed in 3:41.08.
