Cal Berkeley teammates Anna Purchase, representing England, and Audrey Jacobs, competing for The Netherlands, placed first and eighth, respectively, in the women's hammer throw at the NCAA Division 1 West Regional at Sacramento State. Purchase triumphed with a third-round effort of 230-5 (70.25m) and Jacobs prevailed in her section with a personal-best 211-10 (64.57m) on her first attempt, as both athletes secured berths in the June 8 final at the Division 1 championship meet at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
