After inclement weather washed away an opportunity for Camryn Rogers to challenge her own Canadian and collegiate records in the hammer throw May 13 at the Pac-12 Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., the Cal standout took full advantage of cool conditions and overcast skies before the rain arrived Thursday at the NCAA Division 1 West Regionals at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark.

Rogers surpassed both her Canadian and collegiate all-time marks with her first attempt, producing a throw of 250-10 (76.46m) to improve to the No. 5 competitor in North American history – trailing U.S. professionals DeAnna Price, Brooke Andersen, Janee’ Kassanavoid and Gwen Berry – and 21st in the world.

Alyssa Wilson of Texas State, a former All-American at UCLA, was second at 239 feet (72.85m), with none of the other 10 qualifiers surpassing the 70-meter mark.

Rogers boasts the top five throws in collegiate history, all beyond 245 feet, including three this season.

Ashton Riner of Brigham Young led all women’s javelin qualifiers with a throw of 187-10 (57.25m), with all 12 athletes who advanced producing performances surpassing the 50-meter mark.

Deborah Acquah of Texas A&M led a deep group in the women’s long jump with a 21-10 (6.65m) effort.

The Big 12 Conference dominated the long jump, including three athletes from Texas Tech – with Monae’ Nichols qualifying second at 21-7.50 (6.59m) – and two competitors each from Baylor and Texas.

Arizona State’s Jorinde van Klinken, a Dutch athlete, achieved a personal-best 61-6.25 (18.75m) in the second round of the shot put to lead the 12 qualifiers, including Wilson.

Former Arizona State standout Samantha Noenning, an NCAA Division 1 champion with the Sun Devils before transferring to Arizona, just missed advancing by less than an inch, placing 13th overall at 55-5.75 (16.91m).

Arkansas qualified pole vaulters Amanda Fassold, Mackenzie Hayward and Bailee McCorkle, with the 12 athletes advancing split evenly between clearing 13-9.75 (4.21m) and 13-5.75 (4.11m).

Rice’s Grace Forbes ran 33:35.30 to win the women’s 10,000, with 11 of the 12 qualifiers running under 34 minutes. New Mexico, Colorado and Utah Valley all had two athletes advance.

Ohio State’s Adelaide Aquilla surpassed the 19-meter mark for the first time during the outdoor season after achieving the feat twice in the shot put during the indoor schedule at Indiana University’s Haugh Track in Bloomington.

Aquilla achieved a mark of 62-7.75 (19.09m) on her second attempt, with all 12 qualifiers producing performances of 54-1.75 (16.50m) or better. Aquilla is No. 4 in collegiate outdoor history at 62-8.75 (19.12m) from last year’s Big Ten Championships.

Alabama’s Mercy Chelangat led all qualifiers in the 10,000 by prevailing in 34:17.49, just ahead of Michigan State standout Jenna Magness (34:18.92), who advanced for the first time in the event after achieving All-American recognition four times in the 5,000.

All 12 athletes advancing in the 10,000 produced sub-34:40 efforts.

The women’s pole vault saw 11 competitors clear 14-1.75 (4.31m), with Samford’s Brittany Bishop also advancing at 13-9.75 (4.21m).

Florida’s Jasmine Moore led the long jump qualifiers with her leap of 21-6.75 (6.57m), including teammate Claire Bryant at 20-9 (6.32m).

North Carolina’s Madison Wiltrout was the top competitor in the javelin with a throw of 182-11 (55.75m) and Auburn had multiple qualifiers, including the final athlete to advance Shaniya Holley at 164-5 (50.12m).

The Tar Heels also had the leading qualifier in the hammer throw, as Jillian Shippee achieved a personal-best 229-10 (70.07m), with all 12 athletes advancing surpassing the 64-meter mark.
